2007 Zorvino Vineyards Carmenere
The second bottling of our 2007 Carmenere is now ready to go. This award winning release is a lightly oaked version of one of our most popular red wines. By far my favorite barbeque wine and GREAT with ribs! Just took a Bronze Medal in the Finger Lakes Wine Competition.
The Carmenere grape has a very interesting past. Originally it was grown exclusively in the Bordeaux region of France but has thrived in the fertile plains of Chile. Recent studies have revealed that this grape is actually distantly related to Merlot. Our 2007 grapes were sourced from Chile and we have created a wonderful medium-bodied red wine with fruit up front and a mild peppery finish with a touch of licorice.
